THE UN-GROUP PRESENTS
House of Disguise
SPONSORED BY THE FOG MACHINE CORPORATION
October 6-30, 2023
Openinig October 6, 2023, 5-8pm
“House of Disguise” is an exhibition of intentional and UN-intentional works by members of the UN-Group. This social and working group has encountered phenomena that has been identified as a coherent and universal system known as The Un-Difference Curve (UDC), which itself spirals out from the concept of the Un-Noun: objects that have reached degree zero in the cycle of value. During correspondence, research and practice, agents of the UN-Group have created objects and documents in the thrall of this system. The phenomena described and illustrated here is not new, it is only the perspective that is novel. Nothing is invented, only observed and named. “House of Disguise” has a corporate structure, works by individuals will be subsumed by the totality of the exhibition, an environment where systems and structures of exchange are not what they seem. Created, found, and altered objects will be combined according to their ability to ‘speak’ to one another, and to illustrate concepts included in the publication ‘UN’, which describes a variety of actions and object-forms including: The Un-Noun, Virtual Object Manufacture (VOM), Congloms, Standardized Fill-Ins (SFIs), Environmental Rehabilitation Guarantors (ERGs), ‘Tronies’, & Invested Likeness (ILK).
This exhibition expands on themes presented in “THE LUMP SHOW: An Exhibition of the Un- Noun, Including an Introduction to Un-Realism & Revised, Amplified VOM,” mounted at Cornelius Projects, San Pedro, California, September 14–November 24, 2019.
